The Hulk Whisperer begins

The Hulk roared as he stomped through the woods. In the back of his head Bruce is trying to sooth the angry hero but the Hulk doesn't appear to be listening. Swinging his arms wildly the Hulk tried to take his rage out on the trees and the grass. He roared again as it appeared someone was coming toward him. But it was a warning roar this time. "Stay away from me," it seemed to be saying.

Natasha was swung out the way by Cap, but her eyes were on the beast in front of her.

"You have to let me try," She stated, looking at Steve and Tony. She stepped forward, her hands raised.

"Hey there Big Guy."

The Hulk stopped and stared at the woman. Puny Banner was trying to reassure him that this person was a friend but the Hulk wasn't sure. Still he wasn't smashing things anymore so that was a good start.

"How's it going?" She asked the Hulk, as she sat down crosslegged on the ground. She managed to keep her body relaxed, but her eyes were focused and sharp on the man in front of her.

The Hulk huffs like a tried animal and mirrors Black Widow's movement sitting on the ground with a slight thump that makes everything around them shake.

Natasha couldn't help but laugh a little as she was tossed around some. Steve smiled at the Hulk but stayed put.

"So, Big Guy," She said, getting to her knees. "Have you ever held hands before?"

The Hulk tilts his head as Bruce encourages him to hold out his hand.The Hulk uncurls his fingers and reaches out slowly as if he is afraid of getting hurt if he goes too far.

Natasha leans closer to him, to rest her palm against his. She could feel a rush as she did this, and the tension and sudden fear left her body.

"Good job."

Another huff from the Hulk as he waits for something to happen. He isn't really used to people not shooting at him or hitting him so he's got a child like curiosity that makes him want to see what is going to happen next.

Natasha takes a deep breath, and inches closer to the Hulk. "I think the big guy needs a rest don't you?" She reached for his wrist, gently rubbing small circles. "How about a lullabye?"

The Hulk huffs and starts shaking his head back and forth as the touch starts to relax him. He pulls away as his body starts to shake and change revealing a slightly green tinged Bruce Banner underneath. "What just happened," he managed.

Natasha watched as Bruce shifted, standing and walked back to Steve and Clint. "Top that, boys," She said, grabbing the blanket Clint was holding. It was one that she had used last night, and crouched down in front of Bruce, wrapping the blanket around him.

"In layman's terms? I put the Hulk to sleep," She said proudly, looking pleased with herself. "Shut up Barton."

"Are you okay Bruce?"

"It was weird," Bruce says pulling the blanket around him, "that's the first time ever someone got his attention and held it long enough for me...for us to calm down." He looks at Natasha, "I think we could do this again with some testing."

Natasha crouched down in front of him, smirking slightly. "It's a gift, but what kind of testing did you have in mind?"

"A enclosed controlled situation," Bruce says, "somewhere the Hulk can't get away if things go wrong. He seemed more aware this time. I'd like to explore that too."

Natasha nodded her head, seeming to follow Bruce's train of thought. She always seemed to be able to, they were very much in sync it seemed. "Where did you have in mind?"

"One of the towers training rooms should work," Bruce says, "they are sound proof, with hard walls and big enough for the other guy and you."
